(NL) Voor mijn project ontwikkelde ik een woonruimte voor een "lecture in residence," een gastdocent die tijdelijk komt wonen en lesgeven. Ik interviewde een vrouw uit Australië, die een eigen pottenbakkerij runt, workshops geeft en een winkel heeft. Dit gaf mij waardevolle inzichten in haar levensstijl en behoeften.
Het ontwerp moest een typisch Nederlands element bevatten, en ik koos voor het thema ‘bouwen op water.’ Nederland staat bekend om landaanwinning en waterbeheer, en dit intrigeerde mij. Ik besloot dit concept verder te verkennen.
De vorm van de woonruimte is geïnspireerd op het vloeiende water rondom een woonark. Om het ontwerp extra bijzonder te maken, ligt de ruimte deels onder water, waarbij alleen de bolling zichtbaar is. Ik deed ook onderzoek naar de gracht achter de school, waar het ontwerp zou worden geplaatst, en hield rekening met de afmetingen om ervoor te zorgen dat andere gebruikers geen hinder ondervinden.
(EN) For my project, I developed a living space for a "lecture in residence," a guest lecturer who temporarily comes to live and teach. I interviewed a woman from Australia who runs her own pottery studio, offers workshops, and has a shop. This provided me with valuable insights into her lifestyle and needs.
The design needed to include a typical Dutch element, and I chose the theme of "building on water." The Netherlands is known for land reclamation and water management, which intrigued me. I decided to explore this concept further.
The shape of the living space is inspired by the flowing water around a houseboat. To make the design even more unique, the space is partially submerged, with only the curvature visible above the water. I also conducted research on the canal behind the school, where the design would be situated, and took the dimensions into account to ensure that other users would not be inconvenienced.
